Styria celebrates its patron saint, St Joseph, on 19 March. Section 2 of the Styrian School Hours Implementation Act 1999 names "19 March as the feast of the patron saint" expressly as a day without school; St Joseph's Day is not a holiday under the Rest Periods Act. At work it is only off where a collective agreement, works agreement or service code says so. In 2027, 19 March falls on a Friday, just before the Easter break, so school children are off from Friday 19 to Easter Monday 29 March. In 2028 St Joseph's Day is a Sunday and gives nothing. Styria shares the latest semester break with Upper Austria, from the third Monday in February: 15 February 2027 to 20 February 2027 in 2027. School starts on the second Monday in September and the summer holidays on 10 July 2027 in 2027. If you get St Joseph's Day 2027 off and take Monday to Thursday before it as leave, four leave days give nine days off. Ten leave days give 29 days off in 2027 in all.
