Vienna has Austria's 13 statutory holidays and, as its own school day off, 15 November, the feast of St Leopold, patron saint of Vienna and Lower Austria. Section 56 of the Vienna Schools Act lists 15 November alongside Sundays, holidays and All Souls' Day as a day without school. In employment law it is a working day in Vienna, as in Lower Austria; shops and most businesses work. In 2027 St Leopold's Day falls on a Monday, in 2028 on a Wednesday. Vienna's schools share the earliest semester break with Lower Austria: 1 February 2027 to 6 February 2027 in 2027. School starts on the first Monday in September, 6 September 2027 in 2027, and ends a week earlier than in the other provinces, with the summer holidays starting on 3 July 2027 in 2027. Ten leave days give 29 days off in Vienna in 2027 and 35 in 2028. Vienna has 252 working days in 2027.
